In Amherst check out Comcast Channel 15 where our award winning children’s show The Curious Giraffe Show will be airing daily at 3:30 p.m. as well as during its usual slots on channel 12.
2017 First Place in Children and Youth Programs in the Northeast! (From New York to Maine)
Our show, for kids of all ages, is recorded at Amherst Media, our local community TV station. Our cast is a group of six kids ages 4 to 10 year old, and hosted by Dorothy Cresswell, a retired nationally board certified early childhood teacher. Each program focuses on a topic kids are curious about, silly or serious, and includes stories, songs, and discussion.

Dorothy Cresswell Shares Musical Conversations about Acceptance With 2nd Graders
Local singer/songwriter Mrs. Dorothy Cresswell presented her Curious Giraffe Show: Friendship ARC (Awareness, Response, Concern) Program to four 2nd grade classrooms at Chapin Street School on October 26th and 27th. The visits were funded by a generous $500 grant provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Council to support The Curious Giraffe Show: Musical Conversations with Kids.
During her interactive musical presentation Cresswell used her musical voice to engage students about making friends, acceptance, feeling part of a group, etc. She was joined by an array of puppets and The Curious Giraffe, who assisted her as characters in short skits that addressed some ever-challenging questions about how we take care of ourselves, each other, and the wider world.
2nd grade teacher, Ms. Amy Anderson, commented, “Students loved the songs and sign language movements she taught during the songs. They heard her message of kindness in a song-filled, fun way.”
Since her retirement from teaching kindergarten through third grade in Massachusetts for thirty-two years, Cresswell has nurtured and shared her love of music with children of all ages in a variety of platforms. Currently she is working on a new local television show for children called, The Curious Giraffe Show: For Curious Kids of All Ages. The show is filmed at Amherst Media and highlights friendly thoughtful songs, stimulating thoughtful conversations.
“We were very fortunate to have had the opportunity to offer this program to approximately one-hundred and sixty 2nd graders as part of our Red Ribbon Week activities,” shared Mrs. Nikki Reed, Chapin Street Principal. “Mrs. Cresswell’s passion and enthusiasm for incorporating music in a fun and creative performance to reinforce kindness, understanding and empathy, is not only timely, but contagious.”
